Chiropractic Marketing– Strategies to Make 2010 Your Best Year Ever

As with many small business owners, 2009 was a tough year for a lot of chiropractors. I personally received many emails all over the world from doctors who expressed anxiety and frustration that their practice numbers had decreased substantially over the course of the year.
It remains unclear what state the economy will be in during 2010, but my hunch is that we are in for at least another several months of the recession. Now, instead of feeling discouraged by this, I invite you to do the opposite. I think the healthiest perspective to take on the recession is that it is forcing all small business owners to really find their ‘A’ game. Nothing less than this will cut it.
What this means is that, if you want to prosper in 2010, you need to take your skills, knowledge, and motivation to a new level. Instead of feeling like a victim to the recession, you can use it as a source of motivation to see just how successful your practice can be– even if many of your colleagues or competitors are struggling.
Marketing your chiropractic practice starts on the level of your thoughts and beliefs. If you are trying to promote your practice with an inner reality that is based on fear, disempowerment, force, or will power, you just won’t get away with it in a down economy. The truly successful chiropractors–the ones who are prospering in spite of the bad economy– have developed a mindset of unshakable confidence, purpose, and inspiration.
That is a good starting point for creating positive momentum for your practice. The next step is to get current with the latest marketing trends. Patients do not want to be sold to in this day and age; instead, they want to be connected with, heard, understood, and inspired. Is your marketing doing this? If not, it is time for a change.
On your practice website, don’t just say who you are and what you do, get people FIRED UP to try your services. Talk about your mission and how you are so passionate about helping people. Really connect with the pain your target market is having. Show them that you ‘get’ their situation and that you have a solution. Because of social media, people want to connect with you now first on a personal level before they will want to do business with you.
Make your website interactive. Have a great opt in form. Shoot a welcome video. Mark my words– video marketing will soon be a mandatory aspect of a good website. Right now, it’s still considered pretty cutting edge to have a video on your website, but soon it will be expected. Ride the wave that web 2.0 has created!
Learn how to leverage websites like Twitter and Facebook. These sites can be just incredible sources for lead generation. If you are new to web 2.0 marketing for your practice, I highly recommend that you pick up a copy of my e-book Online Mastery for Holistic Practitioners. This will get you caught up very quickly to the current marketing trends on the internet.
Another marketing strategy you really want to implement to build your chiropractic practice is what Eben Pagan terms ‘pushing the free line.’ This means that you give away A LOT of valuable information to prospects up front in order to build trust. For instance, you can give away an e-book, an mp3, a CD, a DVD, or a physical manual to anyone who expresses interest in your work and to all new patients.
Alex Mandossian, another famous internet marketer, has a great saying: ‘Every business is an information marketing business.’ I totally agree with this. Most people need to consume information about your services before they will be ready to buy from you.
In 2010, I invite you to get out of the box in your marketing efforts. Stand out from the crowd and do things differently. Position yourself as a leader in your community and you too can be one of the top 5% of chiropractors– even in a down economy. Always remember that there are doctors out there doing very well even when most are struggling. What is stopping you from joining them?
